Both native midwesterners, David Page & Barbara Shinn met in 1988 while living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the early 1990s, they moved to New York City to open Home, one of the East Coast’s first farm-to-table restaurants. It was at Home that they broke ground by pairing New York State wines with food from the region.

In 1998, David and Barbara Shinn purchased the 22-acre piece of land that is now Shinn Estate Vineyards. Two years later, they went on to plant 20 acres of grapevines, and built an estate winery, as well as the iconic Farmhouse Inn, which has been named a top destination by Fodor’s, Food & Wine Magazine, and Bon Appétit, among others.
